World Information: Taichi was born in Odaiba, Tokyo. His world is technically separated into two: the "human" and "digital" worlds, the latter of which is formed by digital information. Travel between the real and Digital Worlds is mitigated by Digital Gates, which those with digivices have the power to use. Beings called Digimon live in the Digital World, and Taichi is what is called a "Chosen Child"; a human capable of bonding with a Digimon and helping them to evolve further using the power contained inside them. The Digital World has nearly been destroyed or conquered on several occassions, but thanks to Taichi and his fellow Chosen Children, this has been stopped.

Personality: Taichi is, at first glance, your typical young male protagonist. He's dedicated, he's prone to charging on ahead, and is a natural born leader. However, as he's grown, these traits have not only matured with him, both Taichi himself and the situations with which he's become involved have become more complex and less easy to boil down to a simple list of tropes and character traits.

The first important lesson Taichi learned was about courage; not just to show it, but when and how to wield it. As it's his crest, he's always been a courageous person, but his recklessness ended up not only putting the Chosen Children in trouble on occasion, it caused his partner Agumon to dark evolve into SkullGreymon. Ultimately, the key to unlocking his crest came with the realization that courage could not only not be foolhardy, but that it shouldn't come with forcing one's own will over others or pushing someone beyond what they're capable of.

An important aspect of Taichi's character is also his sense of responsibility. Ever since he was young, he always looked after his sister. However, one day, his selfishness caused her to get sick, causing Taichi to be fearful of anything bad ever happening to her as well as making him determined to be the one to help her whenever she needed it. This stubbornness still rears its head even today, not just with his sister. Hikari, but with numerous aspects of being a Chosen Child. Sometimes it can cause him to take on problems alone, as shown when Agumon was captured by the Digimon Kaiser. However, age has tempered this aspect of Taichi somewhat.

Furthermore, as Taichi has gotten older, his recent experiences have led to his seeing the world as far more complex than he did beforehand. In his most recent adventure, he became more aware of the consequences of the power Digimon wield, and struggled with the idea of when and where it was right to fight. Furthermore, the nature of the digimon Meicoomon, who spread a virus that affected his and everyone else's partners, brought the struggle of what to do against a threat that was also a friend. In both cases, Taichi has since learned that he needs to do what needs to be done, even if the outcome may not be perfect or come with tragedy of its own.

That said, Taichi's recent experiences have also left him with a degree of guilt. He couldn't save his teacher and mentor, Daigo Nishijima, and having to deal the final blow against Meicoomon weighed heavily upon him. Furthermore, he also carries the burden of being tricked and not knowing that some of his comrades had been captured and held in the Digital World.

Taichi has his mature side, too. He's shown this when he encouraged Sora to pursue Yamato, putting aside any feelings he might have had. Furthermore, his experiences have produced more than just guilt: it's mad him more conscious of the effect that the Chosen Children and Digimon have on the world. This will ultimately put him on the path to becoming a diplomat as an adult, who would try to build bridges between the human and Digital Worlds. Practically, this would be exhibited in him being more of a clear thinker, and willing to hear all sides of a problem and work with everyone to the best of his ability.

Main Motivation: Taichi's primary motivation is to keep the world safe. He has his own dreams and goals, of course, but ultimately, he wants to keep the peace between all worlds so he, his family, and his friends can be successful.

Skills: Taichi is an athletic young man, and skilled in playing soccer. Aside from that, he's a normal everyday human being.

His partner, Agumon, however, has numerous abilities. In his lower forms of Botamon and Koromon, all he can do is hop around as a talking head and blow lightly acidic bubbles. However, as Agumon, he can spit fire with his "Baby Flame" attack, and is armed with strong jaws and sharp claws.

Agumon is also capable of evolving further, but that requires the presence of Taichi's Digivice. His first evolution after Agumon is Greymon, a towering dinosaur with a hard helmet with a pair of horns. Greymon can spit an even more powerful "Mega Flame", ram opponents with his horns, and strike with his claws and tail. From there, he evolves into MetalGreymon, who has gained wings, a cybernetic arm capable of firing its claw forward on a cable, and a warhead missile launcher built into his chest. His last evolutionary stage is WarGreymon, who is equipped with arm mounted-claw weapons called Dramon Killers. WarGreymon can summon a fiery ball of energy known as "Gaia Force", fly, slice with his Dramon KIllers, or become a whirling "Grey Tornado" to drill through and cut opponents to ribbons. There is a form beyond this called Omegamon, who wields an even greater level of power, but that requires the presence of his fusion partner, Gabumon, in order to achieve this form.

In game, none of Agumon's evolutionary stages would be available until Taichi regains his Digivice.
